Thank you to all of you wonderful people who have reached out. As I said in my previous update, our boy is home. Our plan was to give him the meds, get him to the cardiologist and love him fiercely. well, things are not going as planned. He is extremely lethargic.
He decided to lay in the closet, barely responding. My heart wants to believe that he is just resting and healing, but my head knows different.
There is part of me that wants him to go in his sleep, knowing he was loved.
He wants no part of food. We cannot medicate him. He hasn’t used the litter box. He did drink water. The few times he has walked, he goes 4 steps and lays down.
He did come on the bed for a little bit last night. And then on the couch.
Absolutely no purring since home.
he spent most of the day back in closet and just came out now. So we are waiting to see.
I just want whatever is best for our little fighter, a turn for the better or chance to move on to the rainbow bridge , just something to help us all.
This is heart breaking.
My heart aches for you and you are in our thoughts. Hugs
Oh noooooo. I’m really saddened that he’s not perking up. This is so hard, I wish I could help sprinkle fairy dust on him that would return him to good health. Please keep us posted and remember you can always post in our Forums or call the Tripawds Helpline 844-TRIPAWD to talk with people who understand this tough time.
We are holding candles and love in our hearts for happier news. Please keep us posted.
Dear sweet Gina❤ Our hearts hurt with you. We just love this guy❤
He is where he wants to be. And clearly he has just enough spunk to decide if he wants to own the bed, or own the couch, or own the closet.
You have done, and are doing, everything possible for Mr Rusty Bunnyman….and he knows it. We know, and he knows, you want what’s best for him. And yes, it so so hard as hoomans to know exsctly shat that is.
Have you had anymore communication with the Vet since he’s been home? I know getting th lasix in him is something you want to do, so maybe the Vet has suggestions on that. I know Holly and Jackie may have some tips on that.
And yes, what we all wouldn’t give to just pass peacefully in our sleep when our time on earth is up. So maybe you can ask the Vet if that is possible with his “condition”. I know with kidney failure sometimes the passing is not too stressful as things shut down. Now, I’m not sure about that, but it’s certainly worth asking the Vet about. And double check to see if the lasix can make him so blah and tired too. That’s a possibility.
Not sure about the not peeing, but with out earing and without drinking much, that could certainly limit the output.
We are all still sending prayers, pawsitive energy and hoeing for the best possible outcome for our very special Mr Rusty the Bunnyman❤
Oh, and maybe your Vet can get him into the Cardiilogist sooner. I know uou probably are already advocating for that….but keep the pressure on!
With you…..we are all with you

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
In my obsessive research on how to help him, I see the lasix comes in transdermal gel! I have reached out to the vet to see if that will work for Rusty.
I am trying to figure out what I can do if he pulls through.
Good for you researching and finding out about rhe gel. Certainly sounds like a possibility.
Transdermal gel is a wonderful way to get medicine into them! I used it for one of my kitties thyroid issues and it was so much easier than trying to muckle her and stress her out. I just rubbed a bit onto the inside of each ear and done. Like a medicated kitty ear rub.
I did not know Lasix was available that way but yay! They will send it to be compounded and it will probably take a day or so to come in. Fingers, toes, paws, and tails crossed for you and all your family.
I am glad he is home, and saying many prayers for his turn around with the rest of his tripawds furmily.
Love you guys!
