Two weeks (as of Thursday) since this hell started again. We didn’t know if we would see him ever again as we handed him over in the parking lot 13 days ago yet he is still here!!
We really don’t have any huge updates that haven’t been shared. Here is something new.
Rusty tried to open the basement door over the weekend. We have decided that we are letting live out the rest of his life on his terms (just like he has to this point) and opened the door for him. He made his way down the stairs and to the back room.
He has decided to hang in the basement in his Daddy’s comic book room (AKA Man Cave) surrounded by a kitty buffet of food and treats that he is not touching. We are on day 3 of the Mirataz appetite stimulant and he still isn’t eating. He did take a few tiny licks of warmed broth yesterday morning and some water. He is mostly just sitting in Daddy’s recliner, sleeping, resting etc.
He is still receiving the transdermal lasix too.
We did have a water issue in part of the room when bad storms went through our area on Monday. Rusty decided he had to be in the middle of everything as we tried to clean up the water.
He has also started to scratch at the foam tiles again. This may sound like a weird thing to bring up, but he uses this foam tiles as another cat would a cardboard scratching post/pad. He hasn’t done this since he was home.
He let Mommy give him a belly rub too.

Oh oh oh!!!! This sounds really promising. These are all good signs that the B-Man is still large and in charge!
You guys are doing such a great job hanging tough and letting Rusty dictate what he wants. It says so much about how close you guys are.
That man cave is pretty cool by the way…love the comics collection, it looks like it’s amaaaazing.

That’s interesting, when I look at the pictures he looks like a normal healthy cat doing normal cat things. His eyes/nose/ears and fur look good. But he just doesn’t want to eat, so odd. At least he’s drinking a little.
That is a good idea though, even if it wasn’t intentional, to change things up a bit to get his spark back. For me, just re-arranging furniture makes them act like it’s a whole new world!

That really is a good update! I giggled when you mentioned the foam tiles. I bought one of those nice smooshy mats for in front of the kitchen sink to stand on while doing dishes… little did I know that it would be shredded with little knitting paws in less than a week!
Somebody else mentioned another appetite stimulant that I have never heard of. I don’t know if you would want to ask your doc if there is another to try. I know compounding medicine makes it more expensive than it already is.
So glad you checked in. As you can see, you are all thought of very often.
